Forming CTC.

During our final year studying Theatre & Drama in USW Cardiff, we formed a company that worked so seamlessly together that we refused for our time to be limited. We have come together officially to continue to create theatre that is accessible and enjoyable for everyone and pride ourselves on shining light upon topics that do not get enough attention. We are extremely excited for what’s to come, and cannot wait to share it with you all. For more info on how we formed, read below.

During our first production as a company, we wanted to focus on the Cambrian Colliery explosion in 1965, and the way the community of the surrounding areas were affected by this. Whilst also looking at how the news would have travelled about the disaster and comparing it to how things would be different in a 2018 setting. The focus was on how social media, technology and generational differences have affected the way human beings deal with tragic news, and how our experience of grief has changed.

After an overwhelmingly positive response to the piece from all types of audience members, we realised that this piece was far too important to only perform once. It not only raised awareness of the disaster that struck a small mining community, killing 31 men and changing so many families forever, but also opened everybody’s eyes up to how much has changed since 1965, and just how different Generation X and our current generation really is. Unfortunately, all of the original members of CTC cannot move forward with us, but we would like to appreciate and thank Eveangeleis Tudball and Gemma Moloney massively right here, as without them we would not be here today, and we will miss working with you both very much.
